Guidelines Governing this Site

 

We at Small Business Trends LLC provide this site for the benefit of our users. We have created this Terms of Service to address commenting, content submission, and other practices governing the site. (For privacy matters, please visit our Privacy Policy.)

This Terms of Service applies to all the Small Business Trends family of websites, including Small Business Trends, TrendTracker, SMB TrendWire, smbtrends.com, smallbiztrends.com, and any sites subsequently added. Any reference to "site" includes all sites within the Small Business Trends family.

 

Comments


The submitting user retains ownership of all content entered and stored in publicly-accessible site features such as comments, audio interviews, podcasts, polls, surveys, trackbacks, and other content collection vehicles.

The submitting user grants Small Business Trends the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, transferable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, and display such content (in whole or part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed.

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to edit or delete any comments and user-provided content that we believe is abusive or uncivil in tone, contains profanity, constitutes spam, contains hate messages, is off topic, or which we otherwise believe is inappropriate or undesirable for the site.

We also reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to edit user-provided content such as guest posts for grammar, spelling and overall readability. We have the right to decide to edit or delete comments and other user-submitted content in our sole discretion.

 

Guest Columns


We welcome on-topic articles for publication; however, we do not pay compensation for article submissions. Important: we get a high volume of email -- please contact the Editor first via email before submitting any written material. Should we decide to publish a submission, Small Business Trends will give attribution to the submitting writer through an article byline or similar designation.

The guest columnist/ guest blogger retains ownership of copyrights to written content submitted to Small Business Trends as guest columns or guest posts.

Provided attribution is given to the writer, the submitting writer grants Small Business Trends the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, transferable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, and display such content (in whole or part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed.

Reader Emails


If you submit emails to us asking questions about small business, where to find resources, and similar questions, please be aware that we reserve the right to reproduce such emails for the benefit of other readers in a "Letter to the Editor" or similar feature on the site or in our newsletter(s). We will not reveal your specific contact details, unless you request us to reveal them.

Please also note that we get a large volume of email, and there is no guarantee that we can answer all reader email or that your email question will be listed in a "Letter to the Editor" or similar feature. (We have to work for a living, too.)

 

Other Content


All other content contained on the site is copyrighted by and owned by Small Business Trends, except to the extent that it contains information quoted from or images from other sources, in which case such quoted content and image content remains owned by its copyright owner.
