Join Us at Search Made Simple

Search Made SimpleI’ll be speaking at two events in September.  One of them is Search Made Simple, which is about search engine marketing.

Although I often tell people that I am NOT a search engine expert, I can offer pointers about the practical aspects of running an online business.

And that’s what I’ll focus on — practical guidance.  At Search Made Simple, I’ll be speaking about how small businesses on limited budgets can use blogs and other new media to grow their businesses.

The seminar is put on by The Karcher Group (you may remember the story I wrote about them migrating to a new 3-letter domain).  The seminar covers search engine optimization; pay-per-click advertising; social media; blogging; and a lot more.

If you use the discount code ‘ANITA’ you will get $100 off.  You can choose to attend one day or both days (first day is basic; second day is advanced).  The discount applies to either the one-day option or the 2-day option — so it’s an especially deep discount if you attend just one day.

Taylor Institute of Direct MarketingIt’s being held at the University of Akron’s Taylor Institute.  That’s a lovely facility designed for high tech learning (see photo right) — and a story in its own right.  It was funded by Gary Taylor, who started a business in the foyer of his home in 1982 that grew to be InfoCision, one of the largest teleservices companies in the U.S.

I was very interested in this conference until I went to their site.

I find it hard to trust a company like the Karcher group for SEO that only has a home page PR of 4 and their conference page has no PR at all.

  2. Geoff Karcher Says:

    Noah,

Good point. I would ask you to consider a couple of things. First, PR is not necessarily an indicator of SEO success. Second, we are still amidst a transition to a new domain (the transition Anita mentioned in this article). So, PR is still shaking out and probably will be for some time.

I would suggest you google the phrase “seo seminar” and see where we rank before making your decision.

    Best Regards,

    Geoff Karcher

The Karcher Group has an excellent track record of results.

I used to worry about the green Google PageRank in the Google toolbar, until I started hearing all the experts say not to fixate on the green PageRank. So I uninstalled the toolbar and never looked back.

Anyway, Karcher just migrated their site to a new domain a few months ago (as noted in my article), so I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if that didn’t have an impact. Also, their seminar page is new and new pages don’t get PageRank right away.

If you base a decision on green pixels — you’ll miss out on a good session. Hope to see you there.

  4. Arthur Bland Says:

    Hi Noah,

I understand your predicaments BUT Google’s PR is not the only basis in the world if you’re good at SEO or not especially when as mentioned Karcher migrated their website into a new domain. So no wonder about that.

  5. Amanda Says:

This sounds like a helpful seminar that would be beneficial to anyone looking for better search engine results. Noah, I understand your concern but if you are a regular reader here, you know that Anita would not recommend something she doesn’t stand 100% behind. She only points us to the best, most professional small business resources out there. After all, her reputation is at stake too.
