Introducing the Small Business Events Calendar

Small Business Events CalendarIntroducing … the Small Business Events Calendar.

We have set up an calendar to list small business events, entrepreneurial conferences, contests, awards, webinars, trade shows, business plan competitions, and other activities of wide interest to business owners and entrepreneurs.

The calendar has its own page:  Small Business Events calendar. I’ve also put a link to the page up in the nav bar (”Events”).

Here are some FAQs about the Small Business Events calendar:

Q: Can any organization’s events be listed?

A: Yes, all qualified industry events can be listed.

There are a couple of requirements, however.  Events must be of broad interest to business owners and entrepreneurs – nationally or regionally or online.  They must be educational in nature or provide a service to business owners and entrepreneurs.

Due to time constraints, we will not be able to list small local networking events, podcasts  or similar activities.  I’m sure we’ll have some judgment calls to make.  We’ll see how many submissions we get and re-evaluate if we need to.

Q: What about contests, competitions and awards for entrepreneurs and businesses?

A: Yes, we will include contests, business plan competitions and awards programs open to entrepreneurs and small business owners. Often contests and awards can provide a helpful boost to small businesses. So we consider it a public service to include them.

Q: How does one get an event listed?

A: All events are added by our team of editors, who are:

If you would like to add an event please ping one of us with your event details.

Make it a short email with just the event details. Include name, date, time, description and one link to a website where readers can register or find out more.

Q: Can I subscribe to the calendar?

A: Absolutely!  We used Google Calendar.  Here are the feeds:

You can also add the Small Business Events calendar to your list of calendars in your Google Calendar control panel, by clicking this button:

And you can add individual events to your own Google calendar, by clicking the “add to calendar” link under each item.

Q: Why did you create this calendar?

A: Every week we get press releases about small business events, conferences, webinars, contests and awards.  I try to write about key ones here at Small Business Trends.

But it feels random.  As the reader, I know it can be hard to find announcements once they cycle off the home page.  Most of you wouldn’t think to hunt around for event listings in this site’s archives. I know I wouldn’t.

Plus, much as I’d like to write complete posts about all the great events there are, I just don’t have time to cover everything.  My co-editors are in the same boat.

A calendar seemed like an obviously better choice. You can scroll through the calendar by date. You can see events at a glance. Isn’t that easier than hunting through old archives?

We will still write about key events.  But you will be able to find the full event listings in the Small Business Events calendar
