Carnival of the Capitalists - Check it Out

This week’s Carnival of the Capitalists is now available.  Guest host C.E.H. Wiedel from One Man Band: DIY Online Business for One pulled together a quality roundup. She named our collection of tips from marketers, “Top Experts Dish with their Best Kept Marketing Secrets” as Best of Show — thank you.

A ‘don’t miss’ entry is that of Roland Hachmann at Web Jungle. He points to a case of a novelist who took the marketing of his book into his own hands, after being dissatisfied with his publisher’s marketing efforts — with happy results. Hmm, wonder what that author did? Did the author take up blogging, or create a video about his book, or engage in social media marketing? Nope, none of those things.  You have to read the post. It highlights a marketing technique from more than 100 years ago.  I guarantee you’ll find it as creative as anything online in 2008.

Check out the entire edition of Carnival of the Capitalists. You’ll get to see what others are interested in and writing about, and may discover some new blogs.

    Anita,

Did the author become a millionaire or was it a character in the book?

I want to give a personal example on the power of classifieds. I put an ad in a newspaper in Hong Kong, seeking pen pals some time before my trip to Asia in 1992. I got all kinds of replies. I started a letter correspondence with a girl and she became my “tour guide” during my stay.

Carnival of the Capitalist is a great place to find interesting posts in the field of business. I hosted the carnival on June 28, 2004.

He was clever, indeed! Must’ve created a somewhat scandalous buzz back then, too. Mystery man. I like that.

Earn Money — just trying to support other bloggers.

I always make it my practice to try to highlight one of the individual entries in a Carnival. It takes a little extra time on my part to do that, but the other blogger always seems to appreciate it. :)

And readers enjoy having an interesting link pointed out to them, too.

    Anita

He definitely was an innovative thinker wasn’t he. Very creative. He probably would have made a great doctor if he had continued to persue that career.
