Nominate a Small Business Site for Open Web Awards
We are an official partner with Mashable.com to accept nominations for the first annual Open Web Awards.
This is your chance to nominate your favorite social networking site catering to the small business community.
The Open Web Awards are a new set of voting awards for today’s Web 2.0 type of sites. The awards are being held in two stages:
(1) nominations in each category will be accepted until December 4, 2007;
(2) once the nominees are determined, voting will take place at a later date.
For right now, we are asking for your nominations in the category of “Niche and Miscellaneous Social Networks.” This is a category that would include social networking sites catering to the small business community.
What might be some examples? How about Work.com, JumpUp.com, Ideablob, Small Business Brief, QuickBooks Group, Startup Nation, Social Rank and others of a similar type – any site that attracts entrepreneurs and business owners that also has a social networking element to it. Heck, this category could even accept sites such as eXpresso, Dell Small Business 360, and other sites.
If in doubt about whether a site fits the category — just go ahead and nominate anyway.
How to Nominate a Site
Nominating is easy — it takes less than one minute.
Simply click on the comments link at the bottom of this post, and leave a comment below with the word “nominate” and the site name. That’s it. Easy-peasy.
Deadline is December 4, 2007 — nominate a site now — don’t wait!

This is great site to get your personal identity on the internet, and have Google find you fast. Google will also list your lyro.com reference within it’s first few links returned. Lyro gives me a web identity.
Thank You,
Robert Chalice, Author and President of the Chalice Consulting Group.

From what I have read from mashable, I thought it said “niche based” not just small business social networking sites. I nominate FilmCrave.com in the niche based social networking side of things….different than flixster in the fact that it is easier to use and provides more quality content…anyway, just my opinion though.

Nominate: Brickfish.com - Brickfish™, the content marketing platform, has created a revolutionary new approach to online marketing that leverages the power of User Generated Content and Social Media to connect brands with consumers. Brands and agencies use our patent-pending platform to launch online advertising and marketing campaigns that spark the creation of brand-focused UGC, such as blogs, images, video and audio. This content is shared from consumer to consumer via email, IM and hundreds of Social Media sites such as MySpace, Facebook, YouTube and more.
Campaign participants are rewarded for creating, voting, reviewing and sharing content, resulting in high-quality brand engagement. The Brickfish platform then tracks consumer interactions with this content and provides detailed analytics on campaign reach, performance and demographics. This results in a powerful viral marketing approach that has proven to be 5 to 10 times more effective than traditional online marketing methods such as display ads or search optimization.
