Business Podcasts Growing in Popularity

Small Business Trends Radio was recently noticed in an article by Doug Stanley about business podcasts in TBO.com, the online home of the Tampa Tribune:

Whether on a corporate cube farm, at a midsize company or in their own small business, most people spend a big chunk of their lives working.

Regardless of where you spend your work time - and whether your goal is to get ahead or merely get by - there is a podcast or two or 100 aimed at helping you get there.

Or maybe you’ve left the work life behind but remain interested in business as it pertains to investing. There are plenty of podcasts aimed at you, too.

Podcasts, if you haven’t been keeping up with tech lingo, are typically free audio (and sometimes video) files you can listen to online or download to an iPod or other MP3 player for on-the-go listening.

Their booming popularity is due in part to listeners’ ability to “subscribe” to podcasts they like, allowing for the automatic delivery of new episodes.

In addition to being kind enough to name the Small Business Trends Radio podcast series, Doug also highlights five other podcasts about business topics, including:

20 Something Marketing;
MBA Podcaster;
The Cranky Middle Manager Show;
Diary of a Shameless Self-Promoter;
HBR IdeaCast from Harvard Business School

Check them out — it’s a fascinating variety of business podcasts to appeal to businesspeople in small and large businesses.

Also, if you want to discover more business podcasts, please check out the Podcast Review series we are running over at the Small Business Trends Radio website. Steve Rucinski, who is executive producer of our Radio podcasts, has been reviewing small business podcasts regularly in a series called Podcast Reviews. Anita, thanks for mentioning my little effort- The Cranky Middle Manager Show. We have thousands of listeners from around the world who are interested in getting more information on management without all the stuffiness usually associated with the topic.

    I hope your listeners and readers check us out..along with the other shows. Heidi Miller’s “Diary of a Shameless Self Promoter” is a terrific choice as well for those interested in marketing and, well, shameless self promotion.

    Hi Wayne,

    Your show has the best title — hands down! The Cranky Middle Manager. I love it. It is so memorable a title, and the information is entertaining and valuable at the same time.

    Thanks for stopping over, Wayne, and I certainly recommend that readers listen to your podcast:
