Attending BlogHer - Another Sold Out Event
BlogHer, the conference for women bloggers, takes place July 28 - 29, 2006 in San Jose, California. I will be there — will you?
On Day One (Friday, July 28) I am speaking on the subject of podcasting, talking about best practices and the promotion and distribution aspects of podcasting.
I will be flying out to San Jose very early on Friday morning, from New York, where the day before I will be attending the American Expresss OPEN event, “Making a Name for Yourself. ” It is going to be a challenging few days of travel, but one that I would not miss. I can’t wait to visit with my friends on both coasts, as I hope to see a number of you at each event.
BlogHer is shaping up to be a huge success — it is officially sold out. As a male colleague asked me recently with a nervous laugh, “Is it true that no men are allowed?” Well, actually, men are welcome to attend. Men just cannot be speakers at BlogHer, that’s all. The reason for this rule is that the entire purpose behind BlogHer is to give visibility to female bloggers. BlogHer got started when someone asked the question, “where are all the women bloggers?” at other high profile blogging events. With the BlogHer conference, we know where the women bloggers are — they will be right there on stage speaking and in the audience participating.
BlogHer, being a woman-run event, it has all sorts of unique elements, such as on-site child care.
