Small Business Trends Radio: The Threat of Eminent Domain

Radio ShowJanuary 9, 2006By Anita Campbell

We’ve got a terrific Internet Radio program coming up tomorrow (Tuesday, January 10, 2006). The topic is eminent domain and its threat to small businesses and property owners.

I will be joined by Andrew Langer, Manager of Regulatory Policy for the NFIB. He explains how some local governments in the U.S. are attempting to seize businesses and other property under the guise of eminent domain. But instead of putting it to use for public purposes like roads, it is being used for commercial development.

In the second half of the show we will be joined by small business owner Nancy Kurdziel, President of Prime Housing Group. She will share her own fight to retain her family business in the face of just such an effort by the city of East Lansing, Michigan.

To listen live over the Internet, log on to the Business channel at Voice America at 1:00 PM Eastern U.S. time on January 10, 2006. Make sure your speakers in your PC are turned up.

If you miss the show live, never fear. You can download or listen to the recording later in the day, over at SMB TrendWire.com, our podcast site.

UPDATE JANUARY 10, 2006: Go here for the archived show recording: Who’s Taking YOUR Property? The Disturbing Trend of Eminent Domain.
